Ch. 21-25

One thing that I have really noticed in Chapters 21 through 25 is that Jem is really showing signs that he is growing up. I noticed this when he told Scout not to crush that roly-poly. Scout asked why and Jem stated that the roly-poly has done nothing to you and there is no reason to attack it. And also that he tried showing off his chest hair to Scout and stating that he will attempted to join the football team in fall. But anyways I think it is good for Jem to start realizing that there are other living things on this planet, and there should not be any reason to kill it. And that is when I think that that quote stating that it is a sin to kill a mockingbird. And I believe it is the same thing that Atticus went through in life. It usually happens to all of us in our lives that we just need to leave life alone. That other animals and people should have their privacy. But to also give friendship to people who seriously need it after something traumatizing has happened in their lives. I hopefully have gone through this stage hopefully. Have a nice day!

Quote (Ch 21-25)

“He was running.  It was during their exercise period.  They said he just broke into a blind raving charge at the fence and started climbing over.  Right in front of them–”

Pg. 235, Atticus

Atticus was telling Calpurnia that Tom was shot down when he was trying to escape from the prison.  Tom and the other inmates were exercising until Tom tried to climb over the fence and escape.  As Tom got over the fence, the guards shot him down with seventeen bullets.

Atticus and Calpurnia go to the Robinsons to tell about the sad news.  I can see Helen fall to the ground after hearing the horrible news.  It is hard to get news that a loved one has died.  Atticus and the others must have felt what Helen felt because there was no cause for Tom being in that prison in the first place.  An innocent man was shot down that day.

Peeping Children TKAM Ch. 21-25

phins023015.jpg

Cal gave Atticus a note from Alexandra telling him that the children were missing and had been gone since noon, which means that aunt Alexandra wasn’t watching them. Now Attcius has to get out of his important court thing to go and look for this children all because aunt Alexandra did not watch the kids when she should have. When Atticus explained it to the judge, Mr. Underwood, the town newspaperman, pointed Jem, Scout, and Dill out in the balcony. Atticus called them down and met them. He had to send them home with Cal, but he gave in and told them they could come back after their meal to wait for the verdict. After they had finished with dinner, they, the children, went back up to the courthouse and waited until well after eleven that night.  Yes, this was a crazy incident that happened that day, the children get in to big trouble and were able to come back to see the verdict.

Missing Children tkam ch. 21-25

Cal gave Atticus a note from Alexandra telling him that the children were missing and had been gone since noon, which means that aunt Alexandra wasn’t watching them.  She needs to be more respectful that they are not her children and that she can not do anything she would want to do with her own children because they are not her children and Attcius might have different values than aunt Alexandra. People of Maycomb (Ch 21 -25)

Jem looks at the people of Maycomb as the best people in the world.  After the Tom Robinson case, Jem’s outlook on the people of Maycomb changes.  He finally sees the people of Maycomb in their true shell.  Not many people gave Tom a chance.  Jem and Miss Maudie’s conversation showed that Miss Maudie thinks that Maycomb is becoming a better place because of the case.  She points out that there were some people that tried to help out Tom.  For example, a regular lawyer would not try to prove Tom innocent but the judge wanted to appoint Atticus to the case because he would try to prove Tom’s innocent.  Judge Taylor wanted to help Tom out by appointing Atticus to this case.

The people of Maycomb were not who Jem thought they were.  He thought they were the best but changed his mind after seeing the case.  I think that the people of Maycomb are making some progress.  They are somewhat trying to help Tom in the case.  The judge wanted appointed Atticus to this case because no one else would want to make Tom appear innocent.  The Jury took some time to come up with a decision.  I thought that they wouldn’t take so much time because Tom was black.  The people are not the best in the world but are improving.

Tom Robinson Case Ch. 17-20

jail.jpg

This picture reflects the defendant Tom Robinson and the lawyer Attcius Finch’s trial because the the plaintiff is a white woman, Mayella Ewell, the man is going to eventually go to prison for it. Atticus points out what Mayella did and why she said that Tom Robinson raped her.  She was constantly thinking what she did and wants the story to be flipped.  The truth is that she tempted Tom but she cannot bear the fact she tempted him.  She doesn’t want to feel that pain so she accused Tom of raping her.  Mayella commited an action in Maycomb that is unspeakable.  No one knows about so she brings Tom to court and flips the story around.  She does not want others to know that she tempted Tom and wants the other to think that she was raped.  Atticus is saying that she was not raped.

TKAM Ch. 17-20

The trial of Tom Robinson raping the Mayella Ewell lady is just now taking place and Attcius is trying to prepare for the trial of Tom Robinson raping the Mayella Ewell lady.  Mayella Ewell is supposed to be clean but she is not clean she is a clean nineteen year old girl lady to only her family, the Ewell family.  The Mayella Ewell girl’s testimony basically said that she tried to give a nickel to the Tom Robinson guy for his work but when she did the Tom Robinson guy took advantage of her basically raping her and stuff.  But the thing that didn’t add up to the lawyer of Tom Robinson, Attcius Finch father of Scout Finch and Jeremy Finch, is that how could Mayella Ewell get those bruises from Tom Robinson when Tom Robinson has a useless left arm that is very useless. I don’t think that the trial will go in the lawyer, Attcius Finch, or the defendant, Tom Robinson, way because back in those type of days because it was long ago that many people were racist to each other and the trial will not go in to the the balck African American guy’s way thing.
